Anchorage - The harbour, which is landlocked, is of easy access and offers a good safe anchorage for vessels of all sizes.
- Pilots will board inbound vessels at the Sydney outer fairway buoy ( SA buoy )
- Pilot boat standby VHF Channel 16, 11
- ETA'S should be given in UTC at least 48, 24, 12 AND 6 Hrs prior to any coast station addressed to pilots Cape Breton.
The City of Sydney is located at the head of the south arm of Sydney Harbour.
Berthing / departing is possible day or night, however pilots are compulsory.
Coal Loading/ Discharge Berth

One berth, one radial self-trimming loader. Can accommoadate vessels from 25,000 DWT to 70,000 DW. Slewing Bridge type radial type ship loader has a bridge and boom reach of 135M and a coverage of 170M for panamax class vessels. Loading rate 15 December - 31 March 10,000 MT/WWD
1 April - 14 December 25,000 MT/WWD.

Discharge rate is 700MT/Hr
Berth is 180 M plus mooring dolphins. Max LOA 245 M, max beam 35M. Draft alongside 15M, Air draft 18.3M

Both # 3 and # 4 piers have large backfield storage areas.
